Women's Film Festival -
March 18, A Day of
Art, Film and Discussion:
Issues That Touch Women’s
Lives was held at the
Montclair Public Library,
South Fullerton Street,
Montclair. This successful
event was the first of what
is now an annual
event!

Bowling Fundraiser
- March 25, over 100
BlueWaveNJ members and
friends participated a fun
night of bowling as a fundraiser
to help advance progressive
causes throughout the state
and the nation.

|
Iraq
Group of
BluewaveNJ, working with
several other groups, helped
organize an anti-war
demonstration in Bloomfield
on Saturday March 18th. The
march, attended by more than
200 people, was the largest
anti-war demonstration ever
held in the town. The
response from people on the
streets and passing cars was
overwhelmingly positive.
BluewaveNJ is part of the
New Jersey Coalition to
Bring the Troops Home Now.
One of the coalition’s first
actions was to put up a
large billboard in downtown
Newark with the slogan,
Support the Troops, Bring
Them Home Now! The billboard
was up from February 18
until April 1. On September 16, the
Coalition held a rally in
Summit, NJ, during which we
read the names of all the
U.S. war dead and some of
the Iraqi dead. The event,
attended by 200 people, was
the first anti-war protest
held in Summit.

Health
Care Group - April
5th, held a very
successful house party discussion with Assemblyman Thomas Giblin, NJ Legislative District 34, about the state of health care in New
Jersey. The group discussed ACTIONS that can be taken at the state level to make
universal health care a reality in our state without busting the budget.

Media
Reform Group created
a fact sheet on the issue,
constructed progressive
framing language for use in
the 2006 election.
|
|
|
|
|
|
Electoral
Reform Group initiated a
letter-writing campaign for
voter-verified legislation and
took part in an intense campaign
with Essex County Freeholders,
hoping to ensure that new voting
machines meet standards in
integrity and competency. |
