As we give thanks for our family, friends and the blessings of community, we would like to extend a special thanks to you — BlueWaveNJ’s extended family of activists and donors.
Over the past year — and in the face of deeply disturbing challenges — you rolled up your sleeves and persevered. You dedicated your time, talents and resources to “Protect, Defend and Act,” and your accomplishments, both large and small, have been hard-won.
You are the reason we have an effective grassroots resistance movement in NJ. And you are what sustains our ongoing campaign to bring progressive government to NJ and beyond. You are the heart and soul of this organization.
In the wake of our huge victory on Nov. 7, and the rising blue wave gaining momentum in the country, I want to give a special thanks to the grassroots team for their incredible GOTV work that helped elect Phil Murphy and Sheila Oliver and produce a huge win in Essex County.
Our volunteers made over 60,000 calls and knocked on 20,000 doors. Day after day, they took on the responsibilities of shift captains, van drivers, staging captains, canvass team leaders and determined callers.
The Women Wave Wednesdays group made over 10,000 calls for a talented group of women running in Republican districts. While many of these candidates were not elected, your calls and canvassing helped them come much closer than anyone expected. And with persistence, these women will win next time!
I’d also like to thank our other committee heads and committee members for their amazing work on health care, the environment, immigration and election reform. Your calls in response to important issues and critical votes have had an impact in Washington and Trenton. You are the grassroots resistance that our future depends on.
And of course, a big thank you to our small, prolific BlueWaveNJ staff and communications committee for doing outstanding work that is essential for our success, yet often taken for granted.
Last, but certainly not least, a deeply heartfelt thank you to all our donors and our governing board, whose donations make our work possible!
Every day, as I wake up to another assault on our constitutional rights, on our environment, on economic and social justice, I am reminded of your energy and commitment and the power of grassroots. Your activism is what gives us all hope for the future.
Thank you for being part of our family and never underestimate the difference you are making.
