Emergency phone calls needed: Stop Republicans from gutting Medicaid

Phone voters in New Jersey’s Republican House districts and urge them to tell their reps: Hands off Medicaid!

Tuesday, February 25, 12:00 p.m.

The Republican House budget resolution that passed out of committee last week calls for $2 trillion in spending cuts to vital programs over ten years -- and nearly $1 trillion in cuts to Medicaid. Trump has blessed this spending blueprint -- and Republicans aim to bring it to a floor vote this week.

Medicaid provides comprehensive health coverage to 79 million Americans and 1.8 million New Jerseyans.

This is one catastrophe that sustained citizen action can stop.  Republicans have just a 3-vote majority in the House, and many are queasy about un-insuring hundreds of thousands of their constituents. But we need to start now.

Join us on Zoom at noon this Tuesday, February 25, for instructions, script, and calls lists for voters in New Jersey districts represented by Republicans Chris Smith, Jeff Van Drew and Tom Kean. We will ask these voters to call their reps and demand: No cuts to Medicaid to fund tax cuts for the wealthy. Protect our care!

Our three Republican reps in New Jersey represent 400,000 Medicaid enrollees between them. Chris Smith voted against ACA repeal in 2017. Jeff Van Drew used to be a Democrat. Tom Kean is in one of the country's most tightly contested swing districts. We can turn one or all of them against these cuts.
