The Next Five Days Of Fighting For The Moratorium

We are living through unprecedented times.  From this summers record melt of the polar ice caps, to the horrific devastation wrought by Dorian, the climate crisis is here and now and increasingly harder to ignore.  But as last weeks historic climate town hall demonstrated, we also find ourselves on rapidly transforming political terrain.  Could anyone predict that the entire field of Democratic presidential candidates would spend hours detailing their climate policy plans for a national television audience, many of which would have been viewed as impossibly radical less than a year ago?

If we are to realize the full potential of this newfound moment, our movement must rise faster than the seas along the Jersey Shore.  We need you with us over these critical next 5 days on our path to a moratorium!

Thursday Sep. 12th - Final public hearing on Governor Murphy's Energy Master Plan.  Arrive any time between 11:30am pm and 7:30 pm to rally, support and/or testify!  Together we will amplify our demand for an immediate moratorium on all fossil fuel projects as the critical first step for a real clean energy plan to avert climate catastrophe.

What: Public hearing and Empower NJ rally for a real climate and clean energy plan!
Where: The Kroc Center, 1865 Harrison Ave, Camden, NJ 08105
Full details and RSVP HERE.

Saturday Sep. 14th - As a critical deadline looms on the 3-year battle to stop the massive "NESE" pipeline and compressor station project, join friends and allies for a rally on the Navesink River to tell the Governor that the pending permits must be denied!

What: 10:30am - 12:00pm Rally and press conference on the water and land urging Governor Murphy to deny the (NESE) fracked gas project once and for all.
Where: Marine Park by the Pier, Red Bank, NJ 07701
Full details and RSVP HERE or call (732) 972-0111 for more information.

Saturday Sep. 14th - Roseland Not Gasland Community Day - join us as we say NO to the reckless expansion of the Rosalind fracked gas compressor station right next to the Essex County Environmental Center, and YES to our and the planet’s health and safety.  Children welcome; it’s their future!

What: A full day of programming including education, children’s activities, pizza and potluck lunch, music and a march and rally to call on Governor Murphy to stop this and all fossil fuel projects in New Jersey!

Monday Sep. 16th - March for a Moratorium!  On the final day for public comments on Governor Murphy's draft Energy Master Plan, we will march from Bordentown (where SRL pipeline construction is underway) to Trenton (where our key decision makers work). There are options to march the full 9 miles, a shorter 2 mile march combined with a ride on the Bus For Progress, or simply join our opening and closing rallies.  Together we will sound the climate alarm, demand a halt on SRL pipeline construction and an immediate moratorium on all fossil fuel projects in NJ.

Friday Sep. 20th - GLOBAL CLIMATE STRIKE
By skipping school every Friday in protest of climate inaction, 16 year old Nobel Peace Prize nominee Greta Thunberg courageously reminds us of our responsibility to stand in solidarity with the young people who will inherit the world we leave behind.  Let's heed that sage advice and join this historic day of global action to show our elected representatives in all levels of government that the fight for the future of our planet is one we intend to win.
